Reflexology for Menopause

I thoroughly enjoyed the advanced training CPD course on reflexology for menopause. It has given me the tools to help with a wide variety of symptoms whilst at the same time, I’ve learnt so much more about the beautiful complexities of the human body.

About the Menopause

Menopause is a natural change in the female reproductive system, it normally starts in between the ages of 41-55, although for some women it can start earlier.

Hormones fluctuate which can cause many unpleasant symptoms such as;

  • Hot flushes

  • Tiredness

  • Night sweats

  • Memory loss

  • Poor concentration

  • Weight gain

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

Other stressors in life can exacerbate symptoms, i.e. children leaving home, caring for elderly parents or reaching a crossroads in a career.

It is important to realise that chronically elevated cortisol (stress) increases the likelihood of severe menopausal symptoms.

Menopause is a natural process and although it can appear endless, it can be eased with some simple lifestyle changes including :

Sleep : having a good sleep routine

Movement : finding something enjoyable like yoga, dancing or walking in nature.

Relaxation : taking time for yourself and relaxing is very important.

Diet : being aware of which foods optimise health.

Purpose : finding your flow.

Reflexology aims to optimise physical and emotional wellbeing and to relax the body. As it is a holistic treatment, it will help to bring the body back to a level state by balancing the hormones responsible for causing the symptoms.

It truly is a time to pause and reframe, and to decide who you want to be for the rest of your life….
